In the fun with dendrograms post, a linear dendrogram is gradually bent into a full circle. This transformation isn’t specific to dendrograms and can be applied to any dataset. The scatterplot transformer is an interactive app exploring two transformations: folding (similar to opening a hand fan) and bending (like deforming a metal bar). The original dataset is displayed in light blue, the transformed dataset in blue and the center around which the data is folded/bent in red. Background grids are added to help understanding the transformations. It is possible to upload your own dataset and to download the outcome.
I have created this app to easily test my code while cleaning it up. I’m still unsure whether it can serve other purposes!
